Ice Climbing in Rauris Valley Ice-climbing area in the Hohe Tauern mountains

Icy-cold vertical challenges greet ice climbers in Rauris Valley and at the Kolm Saigurn valley head in Austria.

The "Kolm Saigurn Ice Arena" in the Hohe Tauern offers interesting routes for rookies and pros alike: at the Barbara Waterfall, the main waterfall in Kolm Saigurn, and at 13 additional ice falls, ice climbers put their skills to the test on a variety of icy routes. The Ice Arena is particularly popular because of the short distances to and from the actual climbing areas – in fact, 50% of the ice falls are no more than 15 minutes’ walk away. Ideal for beginners: the 13 meters-high ice tower at the Naturfreundehaus.

As one of the most rewarding ice-climbing areas in SalzburgerLand, Rauris Valley offers, in addition to the Kolm Saigurn Ice Arena, several other opportunities for enjoying the ice, both in Hüttwinkltal and in Wörth.
