Genuine Nature Experiences Snowshoeing in Rauris Valley

Immer mehr Wintersportler suchen die Ruhe in den Bergen und werden im Raurisertal in Österreich fündig. Zum Beispiel beim Schneeschuhwandern im Talschluss Kolm Saigurn, wo man die Kraft der Natur auf Schritt und Tritt inmitten unberührter Winterlandschaften spürt.

Ein markierter Schneeschuhtrail führt vom Alpengasthof Bodenhaus (1.280 m) bis zum Talschluss Kolm Saigurn (1.600 m). Geführte Schneeschuhwanderungen mit einem Nationalpark Ranger werden während der Wintersaison zweimal wöchentlich angeboten. Der kostenlose Tälerbus bringt Schneeschuhwanderer, Winterwanderer und Langläufer von Rauris bis zum Bodenhaus und zurück.

Voraussetzung für eine Schneeschuhwanderung im freien Gelände ist es, sich mit den Gefahren des Winters auseinander zu setzen, die Tour unter Bedachtnahme der Wetter-, Schnee- und Lawinensituation zu planen und sich entsprechend auszurüsten.

Snowshoe trail in Kolm Saigurn

The snowshoe trail in Rauris Valley is marked and can be explored without the help of a guide.

Starting point:Car park at Alpengasthof Bodenhaus, Kolmstr. 6, 1,280 m,  
Finish:Kolm Saigurn valley head, elev. 1,600 m
Length:ca. 8 km
Elevation Gain:370 km
Time:ca. 3 hours on trail (simple route)

Route: from the Bodenhaus car park straight ahead the street (about 500m without snowshoes) to the Jagahäusl. The snow shoe trail begins on the left side, opposite the litte house (Jagahäusl) - always on the left side through the wood to Kolm Saigurn. 

Guided Snowshoe Hikes

In winter, guided snowshoe hikes are offered twice weekly with a trained National Park ranger.

We ask for registration one day before the guided snowshoe hike until 12.00 at the tourism office Rauris, Tel.: +43 6544 20022.

Magical Winter Experiences in Rauris

Magnificent views of the Hoher Sonnblick (3,106 m) and, with a little bit of luck, the opportunity to do a bit of wildlife watching during this guided snowshoe hike, leading from Alpengasthof Bodenhaus along a snowshoe trail in direction to Kolm Saigurn valley head.

Meeting point:Parking lot Bodenhaus at 10:10 a.m., returns approx. 3:15 p.m.
Fee: € 20 per person, children and youths (ages 10 – 16) accompanied by a parent are free. For guests with the Rauristal Guest Card free of charge.

Other:Every wednesday and friday the free valley bus takes you from Rauris to Alpengasthof Bodenhaus and return.

Wintry virgin forest in Rauris

Rauris Virgin Forest is a pristine forest with centuries old spruce and pine trees. In summer, Rauris Virgin Forest – with its over 80 dark moorland ponds and romantic clearings – is one of the most popular excursion destinations in Rauris Valley.

Requirements:Challenging snowshoe hike, hike demanding very good condition, more than 3 hours of actual hiking time and/or steep terrain.
Other:The free valley bus will carry you from the center of Rauris to Alpengasthof Bodenhaus and back.

Moonwalks

Below you a white carpet of snow crystals, above you the brightly shining full moon.
Discover the winter landscape of the Hohe Tauern National Park together with our national park rangers on a mystical full moon night. You hike through the snowcovered forest in Kolm Saigurn. After a stop at the Ammererhof or the Naturfreundehaus Kolm Saigurn, the sledge takes you back to the parking area Bodenhaus.
